Buenos Aires!!!

So Pete’s and I are no longer stuck in Brazil. We’ve made it to Buenos Aires, alive and well, albeit a tad bit on the nasty looking side from a week of travel caked onto us.

We got to spend one night in Sao Paolo, the capital of Brazil. It is a wonder to behold, the size and scale of the place. The only city with a more impressive sense of space and urban terrain is New York. The high rise apartments of Sao Paolo run for miles and miles and miles and the city seems endless as you drive through it. I couldn’t help but squint off into the distance and think about what the people in that part of the city must be doing right now, before turning 180 and doing the same thing on the opposite horizon. But the truly amazing thing about Sao Paolo is that for all it’s scale and grandeur there aint shit to see there. Seriously, we asked at the hostel “we’ve got one day in this capital of yours, what should see?!?!?!”, and they didn’t have anything to say. So we just walked around and had lunch in Japantown.

But we have arrived in BA, our new home. Today we get situated and back on a good work schedule while looking for a place to stay. The apartments here are ridiculously cheap, like $200 per month, so we are going to try and find something nice, maybe “con balcon” or something. One place we found is on the 14th floor of a high rise apartment, which would be kinds cool for the view of the skyline.

Also, we are busting out our spanish, which feels great. Senora Wand from Sequoia Middle School would be so proud to hear me stumble along. But it’s amazing how much Spanish was stuck in my dome all this time, just in need of a little dust-off. Of course Pete is a million times better than me and I am constantly asking him how to say shit. We are also trying to still “Sprechen Deutsch” so that all our German pals won’t hate us for forgetting their language when we head back there in May.

I’ll keep you guys up to date as we explore this place!!!
