My name is James Whitaker. I'm 28. I have been traveling around the world since November 2006. I run my internet business from my laptop. My friends think I'm crazy. I think it's crazy to sit a cubicle for more than 5 minutes in a single lifetime. These are my adventures.

My name is James Whitaker. I'm 30. I am back in San Luis Obispo for a few months while I decide what to do when I grow up. I still play and work with websites.

I survived

So I finished the marathon. It was extremely difficult. I have mixed feelings on the whole thing. One the one and it was an amazing thing to accomplish with so many people from all over the world. The World Record was also set today, which was cool. But I also got a slap in the face in terms of personal expectations. The marathon deserves respect and if you don’t make adequate sacrifices to the Running Gods, in the form of mileage during training, it can be no better than torture. So I experienced tremendous highs and tremendous lows today. I will write up a full blog entry in the next few days, along with pics of me at various stages in the race.

One thing for sure, no matter what, I am going to run another marathon very soon. I learned a ton and feel like my next one will be much better. But to put it simply, the marathon is an ample grinding stone with which to mold your mind and body and I intend to use it for just that.

Thanks for all the emails from people wishing me well. You have no idea how much they meant to me!
